摘要:

The talk will discuss computer vision challenges in the context of vision-based driver assistant systems, certainly one of the most difficult areas of current 3D image analysis. What may happen next in front of the car, at the location where the ego-vehicle is expected to be in the next few seconds? Car companies started in about 1995 to add vision solutions into their top-end models, and have now autonomously driving models on the road (e.g. Daimler in their S-class since March 2013, or the current E-Class). The talk will focus on stereo and motion analysis of real-world sequences recorded with a test vehicle on Auckland's roads, with special emphasis on performance evaluation.

报告人简介:

Professor Reinhard Klette is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand. He is the director of the newly established Centre for Robotics & Vision at the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand.  He has been working in the area of computer vision for more than 30 years. In 2003 he published with the late Professor Azriel Rosenfeld of University of Maryland, USA, the first comprehensive monography on digital geometry. He has become internationally renouned for his work in vision-based driver assistance since 2006, with important contributions on performance evaluation and improvements of correspondence algorithms (for stereo matching and optical flow) on real-world video data, supporting, for example, 3D scene reconstruction from a mobile platform. He also has research monograph on panoramic vision and shortest paths in Euclidean spaces. His book entitled “Concise Computer Vision” has an exceptional high number of official downloads compared to any computer science textbook published by Springer.
